July 28, 2009 - Friday night, July 19th, was the night chosen for the 3rd Annual Back 40 Outreach Jug Fishing Tournament. With the expectation of skeeters, high heat, and humidity there were no skeeters and the weather was like we were in upper Montana. Low’s in the 60’s and winds 10-15 mph made it a challenge to round up all the jugs at the midnight hour. This year we were excited to have 15 boats and over 40 participants in the tournament. After the turn in the weather, we had no idea what would be brought to the weigh-in. We had a good quantity of fish caught and size did matter since big fish won the prize. We had a great time and can’t wait until next year to do it again. Below is a list of the winners and the cheaters!  First Place Fish = 12.88 lbs Team Lowe’s (Brent Hunter, Doug, James Golden, Eric Morris)  Second Place Fish = 9.74 lbs Team Turpin (David Edgar, Rick Taylor, Jason Brown)  Third Place Fish = 9.54 lbs Team Pinkston (Keith Pinkstan, Jacob Badger) Cheaters: Barclay Fisher, Brad Betts, and Jesse Taylor with a fish of 14.24 lbs that was kidnapped and brought in late. It seemed to be all Jesse’s idea and plan from the beginning of the night! These guys did tell the true story and disqualify themselves and did not attempt to win the tournament, they just added a little drama and excitement on a cold July night! |
