The state wide Land Between the Lakes Juvenile Quota hunt was held April 8 & 9. Rick Frawley, Tom Herring and Jon Waldron were the Pro-Staff members who attended the hunt. Carter Mullins from Brentwood Hills and Thomas Mendl were the hunters for the weekend. Both of these guys were attending for the second year in a row.
The weekend started out Friday with a great dinner at the Clarksville Steak and Shake and we did have shakes! Saturday morning's hunt was exciting with Thomas taking his first Turkey and Carter also got involved in the action. But, as hunters know, it doesn’t quite end up like we hope! We had breakfast at camp with biscuits, eggs, and bacon and just a good ol' camp experience. Saturday evening was a whole lot of walkin' and listenin' to no avail. But, our hunters stayed right there and did great. Saturday evening, Rick prepared a gourmet meal and was enjoyed by all, including Jacob and William Frawley who came up to join us for Saturday night. Sunday morning, we hit a quick hunt and then had a worship service at the campsite. A good time was had by all and I believe there are some lasting memories that the pro staff and the youngsters will have for many years.
This is the 2nd year for this hunt and we hope to continue for many years to come. This event allows juveniles the access to hunting that might not have someone who is able or willing to take them. The guys also get to know other young hunters and share hunting stories as well as other common interest. The guys will learn camping skills, hunting skills, and general things about nature. They also quickly find out what is involved in pulling their load with camp chores. As I stated earlier, this is just as much fun and exciting for the adults on the trip as well.
