The annual Back 40 Bass Tournament, a Christian outreach ministry, is announcing its decision to dedicate the event to the memory of Jeffrey Ray Lambert (1978 to 2005). Jeffrey, a young Christian from Nashville, Tennessee, went home to meet his Lord November 2005 after a 3-year battle with leukemia. Jeffrey’s example and strength throughout his courageous struggle was a source of inspiration to all who were associated with him, including a number of the members of Back40.
Jeffrey refused to let cancer define or limit who he was. Rather, he seemed to gain his strength from communing with his God, surrounded by the creation of His mighty hand. Jeffrey, his dad, Raymond, and his brother, Jason, fished together all the time, and while all outdoorsman activities were special to Jeffrey, bass fishing was definitely at the top of his list of favorites.
The Back 40 Bass tournament is not only time to enjoy the great outdoors, but a time to reflect on the Creator of such magnificent beauty, as our friend Jeffrey taught us. This is his legacy to us all. Faith and fellowship in this sport that he loved.
