Occupation:Contractor visit my trophy room Family Members: Wife: Wendy Children: Jon Tristan, Kealan, & Keira Hometown: Murfreesboro, TN Favorite Outdoor Activity: Kayaking, Hunting, Fly Fishing, Hiking, Climbing, all things non-golf Favorite Places to go: The Smokies, Out West, and I'm not telling you guys! All-time Outdoor Highlight: Watching the sun peek over the horizon while crossing the hardest part of the climb on the Emmons Glacier on our Summit bid of Mt. Rainier. Everything suddenly lit up hot pink, and ice blue in the shadows, and you could see forever. We were on a near virticle pitch in a rope team. I find that danger and beauty often go hand in hand. Worst Outdoor Adventure: Getting eaten alive by sand fleas day and night without air conditioning in a 30 year old pop up camper that we pulled to florida in August in a truck without air. The campground that was "beach side" was actually "swamp side" and only had sulpher water. The diving that was supposed to happen on the trip was nill because of 10' visibility and huge seas. All I got on this spearfishing trip was a bad sunburn, and worse bug bites! Best Fishing Memory: Going to the Caney fork with a bunch of freinds for a float trip. Best Hunting Memory: Going on Adventure- Hunting trips with my brother for bear, boar, Big Fish (spearfishing), and when we were kids with BB guns- for anything that moved. Favorite Hunting Technique: If they don't come, Go Find Them! Favorite Fishing Technique: Pretty much the same! Favorite Place to shop for Outdoor gear: Where ever is cheap! Favorite Equipment (Guns, Boats, Reels, Tents, Atvs, Clothing, etc): If it bangs, casts, flys, floats, sleeps, keeps warm, is comfortable, and doesn't cause me to get the squirts, I like it! Oh, and toilet paper! Favorite Wild Game Food: Quail, grouper, frog legs Item in First Aid Kit you use most: Gauze- It can be toilet paper! Person most responsible for cultivating your love for the outdoors: Don Hampton Outdoor Hero: Daniel Boone Favorite Scripture: Psalm 23 Any spiritual lessons you have learned on outdoor events: People break down in the outdoors, and you see what they are really like. I think this honesty is cleansing. We often only portray what we want seen. I think that the Lord has always approached individuals in the wild places, because it is here that we can be most honest with ourselves. It's hard to deny anything out there. Like Moses at the burning bush, or on Sinai, or David in Psalms 121 "... My help comes from the Lord." |
